Collection: Tya Tey
Tya Tey is a Sydney based artist whose work contains extensive proto-calligraphy text and pictograph. The use of multilingualism text in Tya's art practice echoes her Chinese Malaysian heritage and her upbringing in Malay village. In her art practice. Tya is always seeking a light gesture to narrate some comprehensive and heavy topics. In her MFA project, she is exploring how a light gesture can articulate loss, giving it a voice through text, pictograph, and painting. Through the narratives of different losses, she is highlighting those current issues faced by individual and modern society.
